Surf's Up

As of 11:30am, there was practically zero wind at the beach.  The surf was, well...it made me wish I had a surf board.  Four to five foot waves and a lot of them.  This summer, a close step-neighbor-in-law is supposed to give us surfing lessons.

Until then, I'll just admire the surf from the pier where I can see the rays and the sharks and the jellyfish.

Whiting everywhere except.....

.... on my hook.  I spent five hours at the pier watching the whiting swim back and forth and around my line.

Stupid whiting!

Oh well, there could be much worse places to not catch fish.  The Gulf is beautiful.  I'll have some images posted one day.

Going to the Beach

Today I'm gonna take my daughter to the beach.  Nice breeze and sunshine.  Water is still cold in the low 60's so "dry" is the word of the day.  Spent a couple of hours whiting hunting this morning, but found none hungry enough for frozen shrimp.  Maybe I should sprinkle the bait with hot sauce next time.

Rain Brain

So, the rain gods wish to produce for us today.  THANKS ALOT!!  See if I care.  I'll go stand in it and fish like nothing is wrong.  I am off today and do not plan to sit around the house.

So, BRING IT, rain gods!  Bring it fast.  Bring it hard.  Bring it as long as you deem necessary.  But beware.  I'm bringing it, too.  I'm bringing my rods.  I'm bringing my bait.  And as any good fisherman might, I'm bringing my patience.

So, "Good day to you, rain gods."

"But...."

I SAID, "GOOD DAY!"

Wife's Birthday

Today is my wife's birthday and guess where I went?  Fishing at Navarre Beach Pier.  Whiting are still abundant.  I caught five today, mainly on live sand fleas.

Anyway, it is my wife's birthday.  I'm looking forward to a nice evening with grilled NY Strips my way.  She likes 'em, and I like that.

Happy Birthday, Darlin'.

New day.

After work this morning, I hopped over the Navarre Beach bridge and checked the situation at the pier.  I saw a few Whiting.  I didn't have my rod with me so I left the pier fishing for the tourists.

I got home around noon and strolled down to the Crab for the hell of it.  I saw a small Ray gliding along the shoreline.  Cool.  I also saw some Mullet jumping.  Cool-cool.

Temp today in the low 70's and sunny.  I gotta get some sun on more than just my face and arms.  I look like I should own a tractor.
